The Little Britain Challenge Cup is the property and construction industry’s favourite regatta.
Hundreds of companies have attended since it started in 1987. It is a much loved event for thousands of people from the industry who for many it is their first experience of sailing and for others it is a great way to pursue their favourite passion and sail with friends in the industry.
It is hosted at the world’s established sailing ‘mecca’, West Cowes, Isle of Wight, and takes place in September after the summer holidays.
Some companies sail their own boats, others charter from local charterers, like Prometheus Sailing. Yachts are typically between 35 to 45ft with crews from 6 to 14, subject to charter limits.
Little Britain entry fees are about £1000 per yacht depending on the size of yacht you enter.
Racing over the two days is organised by one of the local yacht clubs with their professional race management team.
Network drinks and pontoon parties are organised and class winners are celebrated on the Saturday evening.
Accommodation is your yacht in the marina but if there is limited space, local crew houses are rented for a few days.
Hull decals, and crew team clothing are optional but popular.
The regatta is organised by a volunteer committee from the industry, and all profits are donated to sailing charities.
